USING SUBS by Caren Parnes

USING SUBS
BNI would like to see us bring clients and guests
as subs to give us exposure to new professionals and potential new members.
However, BNI has a rule in place that a person who is not already a BNI member
can only sub TWICE. Our membership committee has established that we will hold
that rule in place on a term-basis, so a non-BNI member can only sub in our
group twice per term. This 2-time rule is there because some "guests" like to
work the BNI system to get exposure without ever intending to join.
So to recap, you can invite a CURRENT BNI member to sub as many times as you
like. We do have a sub list on our website:
http://www.bnimiddaypowerpartners.com/subList.htm
These folks are all BNI members, so anyone on this list will work at any time.
If you ask a PREVIOUS BNI member or a client or other potential member to sub,
these folks can only come twice a term. So someone like Laura Malone (much as we
love to see her!) has attended twice this term and could not attend again for
this term.
What we would like to ask you to do when you line up a sub—if
they are not BNI members—is
ask if they have subbed before and explain our rule. We would like the
membership to monitor this yourselves, so our Visitor Hosts don't have to
oversee that this rule is being followed.
And of course, the last thing I want to leave you with is to get a sub for your
absences if at all possible. We had eight people absent without subs recently
and we really feel the difference in energy in the group. If you have a sub in
place, we may have a different dynamic than if you were there yourself, but we
do have a full room and the energy will stay high. So do your best to have
someone in your seat for you!
Cheers,
